What was happening with you when you decided to enter
a clinical trial?
When I was approached by the (clinical trials) CT staff, I was offered a simple
trial. That helped me make my decision to investigate other trials, more
extensive trials. I began to understand the importance of my participation. I no
longer hesitate once I learn about the trial, what it may offer others and
rnyself.
What was your understanding was of a clinical trial
at that time?
I had very little understanding of clinical trials. Once I spoke to the staff of
the CTU and did my own reading, I began to understand what has happened before l
or any other participant is ever approached. I suppose I thought there were
doctors sitting in a room making these things up as they went along. I was naive
to say the least.
Why did you decide to participate?
As above. My first was a simple trial. Nothing too complex. That helped me make
a decision and the explanations from the CT staff helped me understand what
would happen and my freedom to stop at any time.
How did you feel at the time?
My general health was excellent then and now. I think this helps me in deciding
to continue in trials.
How did you find out about the ACTU?
The CT staff were at my physician's office and asked to speak to me during my
appointment. It seemed important for them to see me in conjunction with my
physician appointment and not hold me up. This was a great cooperative and
should be fostered as much as possible.
